At Calvary Chapel Cocoa, our faith is rooted in the unchanging truth of the Bible. We believe Scripture is the inspired, authoritative Word of God and serves as our ultimate authority in matters of faith and practice. Our desire is to know Christ, faithfully teach His Word, and live in a way that reflects His truth and love.
We believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God. The Scriptures are our final authority for what we believe, how we live, and how we carry out the ministry of the church.
We believe in one God who eternally exists in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—one God, yet distinct in person.
We believe Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross as our substitute, rose bodily from the dead, and will return visibly to reign. Salvation is found through Jesus Christ alone.
We believe the Holy Spirit is active in the lives of believers, convicting, regenerating, sanctifying, guiding, and empowering Christians for godly living and ministry.
We believe salvation is a gift of God received through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. Through His death and resurrection, forgiveness of sins and new life are freely offered to all who believe.
We practice the ordinances of water baptism and the Lord’s Supper as acts of obedience and remembrance established by Jesus Christ.
We believe in the reality of Heaven and Hell and that every person’s eternal destiny is determined by their response to Jesus Christ and His offer of salvation. These beliefs are stated in Article 2 of the church’s bylaws.
We believe God created marriage as a covenant relationship between one man and one woman, as determined by biological sex at birth. We believe sexual intimacy is designed by God to take place within that marriage covenant.
We believe God created each person as male or female and that these two distinct, complementary sexes reflect the image and nature of God. We seek to uphold these biblical convictions while treating every person with dignity, compassion, and respect.
We believe every human life is created in the image of God and possesses inherent value and dignity. We believe human life begins at conception and should be valued and protected. Our bylaws also affirm the value of human life through its natural end.
We believe followers of Christ are called to demonstrate love toward others, including those with whom we disagree. We are called to live according to biblical truth while showing patience, kindness, grace, and respect.
We believe Christians should seek to resolve conflict according to biblical principles, with a spirit of humility, forgiveness, reconciliation, and love.
We believe God established the family as a foundational institution of human society. We affirm the biblical responsibilities of husbands, wives, parents, and children and believe parents have the primary responsibility for the spiritual instruction and upbringing of their children.
We believe church leadership should reflect the qualifications and responsibilities established in Scripture. Our bylaws affirm the biblical office of Elder/Pastor/Overseer and recognize the important ministry, service, teaching, discipleship, and leadership contributions of godly women within the church.
Our desire is to know Christ, build generational disciples, and transform families through the power of the Gospel for generations to come. We seek to lead people into a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ, equip families through the Word and the power of the Holy Spirit, and send out generational disciple-makers who impact their homes, communities, and the world.
In all things, we seek to remain faithful to Scripture, proclaim Jesus Christ, make disciples, and demonstrate His truth and love to our community and the world.
